Why I Am Getting an AI Certification (And What I Plan To Do Next)

If you have followed me for a while, you know I believe AI literacy is starting to function a lot like financial literacy. So I decided to get formally trained. I am starting with Google AI Essentials because it is practical and accessible. Then I plan to deepen into data analytics, engineering exposure, and even enterprise implementation (if I can find time!).

If you are thinking about doing one of these with me, let me know. I may turn this into an AI Series for Moms.  And if you want part two, I will break down exactly how I am using AI in my career and in life right now.

What I Am Doing Right Now

I am currently completing the Google AI Essentials certification offered through Coursera

🔗 Google AI Essentials (Coursera):
https://www.coursera.org/professional-certificates/google-ai-essentials

This is a beginner friendly but strategic program focused on:

• Practical uses of generative AI
• Prompt engineering fundamentals
• Using AI for productivity
• Responsible AI practices
• Applying AI to real workflows

It is designed for non technical professionals, which makes it helpful for senior managers, directors, consultants, and corporate leaders who want to understand how to use AI strategically.

How I Got It Free

I am completing this certification for free through the Google Small Business Program, which provides funded access to AI training.

What I Plan To Do Next (More Technical)

Once I finish the Google AI Essentials certification, I plan to level up into more technical programs. Not because I want to code  but because I want strategic depth.

Here are the three I am planning to pursue next:

1. Google Advanced Data Analytics Professional Certificate

Cost: Approximately 39 to 59 dollars per month on Coursera

Best for:
• Business leaders who want to understand predictive analytics
• Professionals working with large datasets
• People who want deeper statistical and machine learning foundations

This one is more technical. It introduces Python, machine learning models, and data storytelling. I think this pairs  well with AI literacy because understanding data is understanding leverage.

2. IBM AI Engineering Professional Certificate

Cost: Approximately 39 to 59 dollars per month on Coursera

Best for:
• People who want hands on machine learning
• Those interested in neural networks and deep learning
• Professionals transitioning into AI strategy roles

This is significantly more technical. It includes Python, TensorFlow, model development, and deployment. I do not necessarily want to become an engineer, but I do want to understand what is happening in the details.

3. Microsoft Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI 102)

Cost: Exam fee approximately 165 dollars

Best for:
• Corporate leaders in enterprise environments
• Professionals working with AI deployment in companies
• People managing AI integrations inside large organizations

This one is powerful if you operate in enterprise settings. It is less about theory and more about implementing AI solutions responsibly and at scale.

Three Other Strong AI Certification Options (Depending on Your Field)

Here are three other excellent options depending on your goals.

AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty

Cost: Approximately 300 dollars

Best for:
• Engineers
• Data scientists
• Cloud architects
• Anyone working deeply in AWS environments

This is technical and cloud focused. Ideal if you work in infrastructure heavy roles.

Stanford University Machine Learning Specialization

Cost: Approximately 79 dollars per month

Best for:
• Founders
• Product managers
• Strategists
• People who want theoretical grounding

This is more academic and concept driven. It builds foundational understanding of how machine learning actually works.

MIT Professional Education Applied Generative AI

Cost: Typically 2,500 dollars and up

Best for:
• Executives
• Senior leaders
• Policy professionals
• Corporate strategy teams

This is premium. High level. Strategy oriented. Strong if you are making enterprise level AI decisions.

Three big decisions I’m making over the next 30 days:

1. Career
I’m figuring out what’s next. I’m a working mom of two (6 & 8), my husband travels a lot, and I’m trying to build a career that fits this season of our lives. I definitely don’t have it all figured out, but I’m going to share the messy middle.

2. Parenting
One question is always in the back of my mind: Am I doing too much… or not enough? I’m sharing how we’re making decisions about sports, activities, and academic competitions because we want to raise kind, capable, independent kids, not kids with the busiest schedules.

3. What we share here
We love sharing our practical, affordable, DIY, budget-friendly Desi hacks. But now I’m figuring out what’s next for this page. Right now, I’m thinking - How to use AI to create simple systems, checklists, and shortcuts that solve everyday mom problems at work, with kids, and at home thar make life a little easier. Would love to know What YOU are most interested in?!

If you’re also in a season of figuring things out, I’d love for you to follow along. I’d also love to know …. what are you figuring out right now?

Come with me behind the scenes, we  teamed up with @authenticroyalfoods , the # 1 brand of basmati rice in the U.S., to see how they brought our community together through cricket and authentic food traditions.

The Royal Booth was such a fun experience, they had games, personalized bag charms, a photobooth, giveaways and more!

My favorite part was experiencing it all with my family. The kids loved collecting their giveaways, and it was so special getting to meet so many of you and seeing our community come together.

We loved seeing the iconic Royal Basmati Rice in its signature jute bag, and with the new look of Royal Chef’s Secret Extra Long Basmati Rice with the same great taste we know and love.

Be sure to catch the rest of the @sfounicorns and MLC matches this season, and get your Royal giveaways! #ManyFlavorsOfYou
Here’s what’s changed after 28 days of letting ChatGPT help fix my posture:

* 100 jumps every morning → my posture is improving, and it helped reduce the bloating in my lower belly, which surprised me.
* Tabletop arm swipes (palms up) → opening up my chest, stretching the front of my shoulders, and helping me stand taller.
* Door hangs → loosening my upper back, decompressing my spine, and making good posture feel more natural..

The hardest part was actually starting. Now I do these 3 things every day!

Would you try 100 jumps with me today?

✨ Full 100-jumps a Day routine coming next. In part two!
Have you tried our Fennel Hot Water?!

In my early 20s, I started having gut health issues and slowed digestion. My Nani put me on to fennel hot water and it changed my life. In Ayurveda, fennel or sauf is known as a tridoshic herb that promotes digestion because of its anti-inflammatory properties and it’s rich in fiber which helps your metabolism.
1️⃣ Fennel Hot Water: Add 1/2 teaspoon of raw fennel seeds to a cup of hot water. Stir and let sit for 1-2 minutes.
3️⃣ Drink 1-2 cups every day and before and 30 min before an event and follow for more tips!
Help me pick! Dress One or Dress Two?!

We’re on our very first brand trip. I’m nervous. I’m scared! But ready to have some fun 💙 and let me know if you would like these dresses, Shapeware, and heels happy to share!

P.S. thank you for being here and being a part of this experience.🫶🏽💙✨ this is OUR Win!!
